The makers of “42” (2013) do a really good job of telling the Jackie Robinson story to a diverse audience. Some may know all about the baseball hero. Others may need some Jackie 101, and because of that, the movie gets a little melodramatic at times (especially the score, which is a weak link). But most folks should come away satisfied. The thing I really want to talk about is the computer-generated imagery. Thanks to CGI, we get to see what Ebbets Field and other ballparks really looked like in 1947. It’s an amazing touch that really helps create authenticity.
