Before becoming a megastar with “Top Gun,” Tom Cruise made several teen-type movies. They all have dark undertones. “Risky Business” (1983) serves as a bridge between Teen Tom and Megastar Tom. There’s the darkness (suburban white boy lives with smothering fear that one little mistake could ruin his “future”) as well as the blueprint for his early megastar films (suburban white boy who’s seemingly had all the breaks gets confronted by Real Life and has to grow up in a hurry). It’s a good film. Very 1980s. The odd mix of Rebecca De Mornay, Joe Pantoliano and Bronson Pinchot co-star.
